President William Ruto praised At the Ready, the memoir by Major (Rtd) Marsden Madoka, describing it as a strong example of ethical leadership and an important record of Kenya’s political and social growth.
Speaking during the book launch held at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto said the memoir allows readers to see Kenya’s journey through the eyes of someone who was at the centre of shaping it.
“We are invited to work alongside Major Madoka on Kenya’s journey through the eyes of someone who stood right at the center of its making,” he said.
The President noted the book is highlighting Madoka’s years of service to the country and drawing lessons in integrity and leadership.
“This isn’t a book of memories but a present of wisdom and hindsight, reminding one where one came from and what matters,” he stated.
Dr. Ruto described Major Madoka as a distinguished military officer, public servant, and statesman, whose career was marked by humility, discipline, and commitment.
“Throughout his life, Madoka has always been ready to lead and serve,” he said.
He reminded Kenyans that leadership is not about titles, but about service, purpose, and the impact one has on others.
“Wherever we are business, government, or our own families we should serve with humility, competence, passion, and compassion,” he said.
The event brought the recording of histories of leaders who have been patriotic and honest while serving the nation to the forefront.
They were attended by former Attorney General Amos Wako, Kenya Literature Bureau MD Paul Kibet, and other senior government officials.
