A police sting in Nairobi’s Umoja 2 area has uncovered an illegal operation producing fake honey, raising fresh concerns over food safety in the city.
The raid, conducted on Monday by officers from the Nairobi Region, led to the arrest of one suspect and the seizure of various items suspected to have been used in the illicit production.
Among the recovered materials were containers of finished counterfeit honey, unidentified chemical substances, a heating coil, and a gas cylinder, all believed to be part of the manufacturing setup.
The suspect is currently in custody at Ruai Police Station and is expected to be arraigned soon.
Police say the operation is part of an ongoing crackdown targeting counterfeit food products and other illegal goods in an effort to protect consumers and uphold public health standards.
