President William Ruto on Saturday, September 13, met over 10,000 teachers drawn from across the country and their union leaders at State House, Nairobi.
In his address, the head of state offered valuable advice, emphasising the importance of education.
For instance, President Ruto stated that if one wants to succeed, they must surround themselves with people who are more intelligent than they are.
Citing his own experience, the president marvelled at his Deputy Kithure Kindiki’s academic excellence, affirming that he was the right man for the job.
Notably, Kindiki has a PhD in International Law from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
While at it, he hilariously hit out at his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, who is not well educated compared to Kindiki.
Gachagua holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science & Literature) from the University of Nairobi.
"If you want to succeed, you find an assistant who is more learned than you. If you want to succeed, surround yourself with people who are more intelligent than you, so that when they help you to shine, you take credit for their work. I had another deputy who said he was not learned. I saw he would let me down," said President Ruto.
