President William Ruto has highlighted the co-operative movement as critical for the economic actualization of the Bottom-up Transformation Agenda (BETA).
President Ruto urged Kenyans to adopt co-operative savings, noting that it is essential for national economic transformation.
“The co-operative model is central to our economic transformation strategy,” said President Ruto
The President noted that co-operatives, which constitute over 14 million members, significantly contribute to the national savings.
President Ruto was speaking during the Installation of Dr. Benard William Chitunga as Chancellor of The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK) in Karen, Nairobi.
He emphasized that The Co-operative University of Kenya is a vital institution for the actualization of transformative financial investment across the five main pillars of the BETA.
“The university’s impact is evident in the professionalism it brings to co-operative governance,“ said President Ruto.
The President also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to integrate young people into leadership roles that positively impact Kenya’s future.
Dr. Benard Chitunga is the youngest Kenyan to assume the role of Chancellor. He is a multilateral banker and global development leader.
“We look to The Co-operative University of Kenya to provide leadership, capacity-building, and research that translates into real, measurable change in people’s lives,” noted President Ruto.
