A suspected police impersonator has been arrested following a swift response by detectives to a distress call at L’Arc Casino within Yaya Centre in Kilimani, leading to the recovery of a firearm, ammunition and fake police documents.
The suspect, identified as Philemon Kiplangat Chepkwony, was arrested in the early hours of the day while inside a black motor vehicle, registration number KCJ 468Z.
According to detectives, a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a CZ 75 SP-01 pistol, an empty 9mm magazine, a pair of handcuffs, a fake Certificate of Appointment identifying him as a Police Constable, and a counterfeit firearm certificate
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly led investigators to his rented house in Waluku Village, Dagoretti North, where officers recovered 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition packed in two boxes, each containing 50 rounds.
Police said the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to establish the source of the recovered firearm and ammunition, as well as the full extent of his alleged police impersonation activities.
He is currently undergoing processing and is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete. Detectives have assured the public that inquiries into the case are ongoing.
