A total of 1,200 recovering addicts who have undergone rehabilitation across various counties in Kenya are set to graduate in the coming days, under a nationwide initiative spearheaded by Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, the Spouse of the Deputy President.

The program, which is part of her office’s campaign to restore dignity and purpose among men battling addiction, has recorded successful rehabilitation of 207 individuals in Bomet County, 66 in Mombasa, and hundreds more in Embu and Meru, where two dedicated rehabilitation facilities are in operation.

Speaking during a Sunday service at the Full Gospel Church of Kenya in Chemose, Nandi County, Pastor Dorcas commended the men who voluntarily embraced the path to recovery and reaffirmed her commitment to transforming lives, especially among the boychild.

She encouraged religious leaders to use places of worship as safe spaces for healing, recovery, and empowerment for those affected by drug and alcohol abuse, noting that faith-based institutions are critical partners in national rehabilitation efforts.

The event was attended by key leaders from Nandi County, including Deputy Governor Dr. Yulita Mitei, who pledged her administration’s support for the initiative. She emphasized the importance of re-engaging fathers and male role models to address challenges facing the boychild.

Tinderet MP Julius Melly also voiced his support, stressing that empowering both men and women was essential to building strong and balanced communities.

The upcoming graduation of the 1,200 individuals marks a significant milestone in the fight against substance abuse and underlines the impact of collaborative efforts between the church, government, and communities in supporting recovery and reintegration.
