In a major step towards reforming law enforcement recruitment, the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) today made a significant presentation on modernising police recruitment to the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja. The event took place at the National Police Service Headquarters, Jogoo House.

Led by CEO Mr. Peter Leley, the NPSC introduced a new digital Police Recruitment System an automated online tool designed to streamline the recruitment process and eliminate longstanding issues such as corruption, inefficiency, delays, and data errors.

The proposed system promises greater transparency, fairness, and accountability in police hiring. It is expected to reduce operational costs, ensure uniformity in candidate selection, and offer a more secure and user-friendly experience for applicants.

It also includes features that allow secure reporting of corruption during recruitment, making it a critical tool in promoting integrity.

Inspector General Kanja applauded the initiative, stressing the importance of fully automating police operations.

“This system is a step toward transforming the National Police Service into a centre of excellence. A credible recruitment process is foundational to building a professional police force,” he remarked.

Present at the high-level meeting were senior police officials including Principal Deputy to the IG Mr. Mathew Kutoh, SAIG; Principal Deputy to the DIG-KPS Mr. Patrick Tito, SAIG; GSU Commandant Mr. Ranson Loolmodoni, SAIG; and Director of Human Capital Development Dr. Mwangi Wanderi, SAIG, among others.

The move marks a pivotal moment in the police reform agenda and signals the Commission’s commitment to enhancing public trust in law enforcement through technology-driven solutions.
