The National Assembly of Kenya has called on Kenyans to submit memoranda on two proposed amendment bills.
The bills are already at the floor of the house as required by the constitution of Kenya awaiting approval.
In a notice placed in a newspaper on Tuesday, the assembly said that the first proposal is on the Registration of Persons (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
The bill seeks to establish a national programme to register secondary school students eligible for national identification cards and allow them to receive free IDs at their schools or designated collection points.
The second bill according to gazettement, is a proposal on the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration (Amendment) Bill, 2025. The bill seeks to remove time limits for citizenship applications by stateless persons.
This will allow individuals who have lived in Kenya since December 12, 1963, to apply for citizenship at any time.
