Napoli sealed the Serie A title in emphatic fashion on Friday night, defeating Cagliari 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku.

The victory secured Napoli’s second Scudetto in three years — and the fourth in the club’s history — capping off a thrilling title race with Inter.

Although Inter also won their final game, beating Como 2-0 with goals from Stefan de Vrij and Joaquin Correa, they finished just one point behind their rivals.

McTominay broke the deadlock in spectacular style just three minutes before halftime, connecting with a bicycle kick from Matteo Politano’s cross to ignite wild celebrations at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Lukaku doubled the lead six minutes into the second half, latching onto a long ball, muscling past a defender, and slotting a composed finish past Cagliari goalkeeper Alen Sherri.

From that moment, the match transformed into a celebration. Flares lit up the stands, smoke billowed across the pitch, and fireworks illuminated the Naples sky at full time.

For manager Antonio Conte, it marked another career milestone: winning the Serie A title with a third different club, following previous triumphs with Juventus and Inter.

“It’s happened again, and it’s something truly wonderful,” Conte reflected. “When we arrived at the stadium, it was tough to even get in — I can’t say how many people were outside. I thought, if we disappoint them, we’d carry that burden forever.”

Although Conte was suspended and absent from the touchline for the final match, his team delivered when it mattered most.

Napoli came out flying in front of a nervous, expectant crowd. Giacomo Raspadori nearly opened the scoring early, firing just wide after latching onto a loose ball from a corner.

Moments later, a dangerous cross narrowly evaded the head of Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, while a blistering counterattack saw Sherri deny Raspadori brilliantly before Politano sent the rebound over.

Sherri, the Albanian goalkeeper, played spoiler for most of the first half, pulling off a series of remarkable saves that kept Napoli at bay and frustrated the home fans.

Around the 20th minute, news of Inter’s lead in Como dampened the mood, briefly sapping energy from the stands and slowing Napoli’s momentum.

But McTominay’s stunning strike soon reignited the spark, and from there, Napoli never looked back.
