Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has dismissed reports alleging he held meetings with emissaries from President William Ruto to discuss a possible political reunion.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday, October 12, Muturi described the claims as false and malicious, saying he had not engaged in any form of communication with the Head of State or his representatives.

“This is fake news. Let it be clear, I have never met, sent, nor received any emissaries from President William Ruto or anyone acting on his behalf,” Muturi said.

He accused those behind the rumours of attempting to create confusion within the opposition, terming the reports “a desperate attempt to push a false narrative and sow division.”

A viral post had claimed that Ruto had dispatched senior government officials to woo Muturi with financial incentives to join the Kenya Kwanza coalition — allegations the former Attorney General firmly denied.

“I stand by my principles and my word; I do not trade my conviction for convenience or political favours,” he maintained.

Muturi’s response came hours after President Ruto announced he was engaging opposition leaders, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and Gideon Moi, in efforts to foster unity and development.

Despite the overtures, Muturi reiterated his position against reconciling with the President, insisting his focus remains on holding the government accountable.

“When I see things going wrong, I have to speak up… it’s not possible to reconcile with him. My job is to make sure he goes home,” he said during a previous event in August.

Since leaving office, Muturi has aligned himself with opposition figures such as Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and Eugene Wamalwa in pushing for government accountability.
