Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to crafting a people-centered foreign policy that reflects the nation’s aspirations.
Speaking during a meeting with former ambassadors, Mudavadi highlighted the importance of inclusive engagement in shaping Kenya’s diplomatic future.
“We are committed to establishing a people-centered Foreign Policy that aligns with the aspirations of our country, a process that the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs is proud to lead,” Mudavadi stated.
He emphasized the need for diverse perspectives, especially those of the youth, to address the challenges they face within the diplomatic framework.
Mudavadi acknowledged the pressing issue of a disconnect between Kenya’s diplomatic service and its youth, who constitute 70 percent of the population.
“I acknowledged the concerning disconnect between our diplomatic service and the younger generation, which makes up 70 percent of our population,” Mudavadi remarked, calling for a collaborative effort to bridge this gap.
Mudavadi urged retired ambassadors to play a key role in fostering greater understanding of Kenya’s foreign service, highlighting the significance of inter-generational cooperation between former and current diplomats.
He stressed that such collaboration is essential for Kenya’s continued progress on the global stage.
This initiative comes at a time when the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs is keen to enhance engagement with the broader public, ensuring that Kenya’s foreign policy not only reflects its economic and political goals but also resonates with its citizens.
