President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to resolving the long-standing land disputes in the Coast region by issuing title deeds to residents who have lived as squatters for years.

Speaking in Changamwe, Mombasa County on Monday, the Head of State handed over 450 title deeds, assuring locals that land ownership is key to unlocking economic opportunities.

“We are issuing title deeds in the Coast region to address the longstanding land problem that has left many as squatters, denying them the socio-economic benefits of land ownership,” Ruto stated.

Earlier in the day, the President inspected the Changamwe NHC Affordable Housing Project, a government initiative aimed at increasing homeownership and reducing informal settlements.

The issuance of title deeds is part of the government’s broader strategy to streamline land ownership, enhance economic empowerment, and improve living conditions for coastal communities.
