Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has assured the public that the government will not shield or protect anyone found responsible for the death of social media influencer Albert Ojwang, who died under controversial circumstances while in police custody.

Speaking during an appearance before the Senate plenary, Murkomen emphasized that the Ministry of Interior is committed to ensuring full accountability and transparency in the ongoing investigations.

“We will do everything within the ministry to ensure that there is no interference, no shielding of any individual, and no cover-up,” Murkomen said.

Describing Ojwang’s death as regrettable, Murkomen extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pledged to mobilize all necessary resources to guarantee that justice is served.

The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Amin Mohammed, and Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Deputy Chairperson Anne Mwangi.

The officials faced tough questions from senators amid mounting public pressure for answers and accountability.

Ojwang’s death has sparked national outrage, with human rights groups and online activists demanding justice and calling for an end to police brutality and custodial deaths.

The government’s top security officials now face heightened scrutiny as investigations proceed under the watchful eye of Parliament and the public.
