Kenyan social media influencer and online content creator Mungai Eve has had her share of unwanted messages in her mailbox. She posted an Instagram Story targeting the men who have been sending her nude pictures, warning them to stop or be publicly exposed. She posted,”Men who keep on sending dirty pictures to my DM, mnikome or else I will upload you guys hapa and stories of your fathers! Private parts ain’t cute things to just send someone na ata hamjai listen! Eeewww!”

The story was both a warning and an appeal to action to men who send her such messages and photos. Mungai Eve responded in outrage, calling the unsolicited content “tabia mbovu sana!” (very bad behaviour), and promised to name-and-shame the perpetrators by adding in reports from their wives’ or girlfriends’ if harassment continued.

Her position has been widely embraced by other women and online fans, many of whom have praised her for raising a voice against something that is otherwise normalised or silenced. Unsolicited porn—also referred to as cyberflashing—is still a major problem on all social media platforms, and the majority of its victims are often female celebrities and influencers. While other social media users have perceived her way of approaching things to be aggressive, others commended her for standing her ground and using her platform to shame such acts.
