Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to unveil his new political party in early February as he gears up for the 2027 General Elections.
The move marks a significant step in his efforts to reclaim influence in national politics and consolidate his base in the restive Mount Kenya region.
Close allies of the former DP have confirmed that preparations for the party’s launch are in their final stages. Among them, former Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru hinted at the party’s corporate identity, stating that blue will be one of its official colors.
“We are ready, and the party will be unveiled next month,” Waruguru announced.

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya echoed her sentiments, describing the upcoming launch as a game-changer in Kenya’s political scene.
“The People’s Deputy President will soon launch the party that will shake the country’s political landscape,” Gakuya told The Star.

It remains unclear whether Gachagua will acquire an existing party or register a new one. His plans align with ongoing activities at the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, which has recently issued provisional certificates to several new political entities.
Speaking at Matanya PCEA Church in Laikipia County on Sunday, Gachagua promised a formal announcement in two weeks.

“I will give you direction in a live television interview. For now, I am still consulting, but early next month, I will make a pronouncement,” he told congregants.
The Mount Kenya region, traditionally a critical voting bloc, has been restive since Gachagua’s exit from office.
His new party is seen as an attempt to consolidate support in the region and challenge President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza coalition. Gachagua is reportedly preparing to sponsor candidates across various elective seats under his party’s banner in the upcoming elections.

His Wamunyoro residence has turned into a hub of political activity, with aspirants and allies visiting to seek his support and blessings.
