A two-day seminar for service personnel’s youth, aged 13-21 years, was held at Kenyatta Barracks in Gilgil from April 24-25, 2025.
Themed “Empowering the Next Generation,” the seminar aimed to mentor participants and prepare them for the challenges of contemporary society, which demands resilient and purpose-driven adults.
Facilitated by KDF clergy, counselors, and education instructors, the seminar covered a wide range of topics including moral and spiritual guidance, promoting academic excellence, critical skills acquisition, nutritional health, sexually transmitted diseases, and issues such as drugs and substance abuse.
Colonel Dennis Obiero, Colonel General Staff Western Command (Col GS WESTCOM), who graced the event, emphasized the importance of quality education as a key investment for a successful future. He encouraged the participants to pursue their education with dedication, making the most of every opportunity.
Additionally, Colonel Obiero highlighted the significance of responsible technology use, especially on new media platforms, noting that while these tools offer vast opportunities for social networking and career development, they can also serve as potential distractions if misused.
