Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has outlined six strategic priorities that will guide Kenya’s engagement with the international community as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.

Mudavadi said Kenya’s diplomacy must deliver tangible benefits to citizens by attracting investment, opening markets and creating opportunities for young people.

Speaking during a diplomatic briefing in Nairobi, Mudavadi engaged members of the Diplomatic Corps on Kenya’s foreign policy priorities and the country’s role in regional and global affairs.

He said Kenya would prioritise a peaceful, free and credible 2027 General Election, economic growth through trade and investment, deeper African integration, harnessing the potential of the Kenyan diaspora, peace and security, and emerging global challenges.

According to Mudavadi, the country’s international relationships should ultimately translate into jobs, investment, bigger markets, stronger institutions and opportunities for young people.

“Kenya’s voice on the global stage must be clear, confident and consequential,” Mudavadi said, stressing the need for diplomacy that protects the country’s national interests.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary said Kenya would continue championing African-led solutions while defending multilateralism and strengthening its engagement with other countries.

He described Nairobi as Africa’s diplomatic capital and said Kenya would use its position to influence conversations on issues affecting the continent and the wider international community.

Mudavadi also identified food insecurity, climate change and health threats as some of the emerging global challenges requiring stronger international cooperation.

He said Kenya’s diplomatic engagements would seek to advance peace and security while positioning the country to benefit from expanding global trade and investment opportunities.

The government has increasingly placed trade and investment at the centre of its international engagements, with diplomatic missions expected to support efforts to open new markets for Kenyan products and attract foreign investment.

Mudavadi said Kenya would also continue working towards deeper African integration, including strengthening partnerships that can expand opportunities for businesses and citizens across the continent.
