Veteran politician and vocal cultural champion Millie Odhiambo has lauded Ohangla star Prince Indah for finally recognising Suba women in his music.

In a light-hearted message , Millie said, though she had always admired the award-winning musician, she felt “something was missing” for her to classify him as truly top tier. According to her, the simple missing piece was this: Prince Indah had never dedicated a song to Nyasuba, or Suba ladies.

“I have always admired Prince Indah, but there has just been something missing for me to classify him as Top Notch,” she said. “He is now officially Top Notch with ‘Nyasuba’. You cannot claim to be a serious musician without acknowledging us Suba beauties.”

Her affectionate comments excited the fans of the musician and the legislator alike. To many, it was a stamp of approval from one of the most vivacious cultural voices of the Suba people.

Prince Indah is known for his hit tracks: Dala gi Atenge, Mama Watoto, and Her Outside, which have gained him a large following in Kenya and abroad. The new song “Nyasuba” seems not only to have pleased the audience but also brought unexpected recognition to him from the leadership, who proudly promote their culture.

With Nyasuba, Prince Indah may have solidified his place not just as an Ohangla powerhouse but now, officially, as one of Millie Odhiambo’s “Top Notch” musicians.
