Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernández secured a comfortable 2–0 victory for Chelsea at Burnley, a result that lifted the Blues into second place in the Premier League.

Neto opened the scoring by meeting Jamie Gittens’ cross at the back post, and Fernández sealed the win late on, arriving in the box to finish off a swift counter-attack involving Neto and substitute Marc Guiu.

Chelsea rarely needed to move beyond second gear and were even able to rest unused substitute Moisés Caicedo ahead of upcoming fixtures against Barcelona and Arsenal.

That decision looked risky early on, though, as Burnley started brightly. Jaidon Anthony saw two efforts blocked, while Loum Tchaouna forced Robert Sánchez into a save with a driven shot from the edge of the area.

The visitors began sluggishly, managing only a tame long-range strike from Trevoh Chalobah to test Martin Dúbravka. But once Neto’s header put them ahead, Chelsea took control.

Captain Reece James was withdrawn at half-time, yet the side grew more dominant as the match progressed.

Neto struck the post shortly after the restart, and substitute Malo Gusto had a shot saved during a spell that also saw chances for João Pedro, Gittens, Fernández and Marc Cucurella.

Chelsea’s second-half performance was largely about game management: they controlled possession—finishing with around 60%—and offered Burnley little encouragement.

Zian Flemming blasted Burnley’s only meaningful second-half chance over the bar, an effort arriving 30 minutes after their previous attempt. Substitutes Lyle Foster and Armando Broja were unable to spark a response.

Chelsea’s own changes paid off, with young striker Guiu cutting the ball back for Fernández to double the lead late on.

Burnley remain 17th and could slip into the relegation zone later on Saturday, depending on results for Nottingham Forest and West Ham.

Chelsea, meanwhile, move up to second, though they have played a game more than their closest rivals.
