Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa has assured Kenyans of the government’s commitment to ensuring access to healthcare services following the recent rollout of the Social Health Authority (SHA).

Speaking during a visit to Nakuru County to assess the implementation of SHA, Dr. Barasa acknowledged that most of the initial challenges, which had primarily affected patients receiving treatment for chronic conditions, have been addressed.

“I am here to assess how this rollout is going, and I am pleased to note that it is progressing well,” Dr. Barasa said.

During her visit, Dr. Barasa met Mzee Kanyore at Sublime Hospital, who had missed his dialysis session on the first day of the rollout but has since resumed treatment.

She also visited Nakuru County Referral Hospital, where she observed patients receiving care under SHA.

The CS reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring Kenyans can access affordable healthcare services in line with Universal Health Coverage (UHC) aspirations and encouraged the public to continue registering for SHA to benefit from these services.
