Mbeere North Constituency in Embu County is now enjoying free education in public day secondary schools following a major bursary programme that was led by the local Member of Parliament Leo Wa Muthende.

The MP has awarded bursaries to 11, 552 students who are studying in 43 public day secondary schools across the constituency. Completely remove the financial load that has for a long time been a worry to parents and guardians.

In his remarks during the bursary disbursement at Karerema market, Wa Muthende said that the main purpose of this project is to make sure that no child is deprived of education because of lack of school fees.

He said that by waiving school fees, parents will now be able to concentrate more on the educational and psychological needs of their children.

Furthermore, he noted that the aim is to raise the number of students progressing from secondary school to university and other higher learning institutions.

However, this intervention has also been linked to teacher motivation. Wa Muthende said that teachers who will give noticeable performance will be given awards as a form of enhancing commitment, boosting morale, and fostering a competitive learning environment.

Students expressed their love for this initiative, calling it a timely intervention that will not only change the education outcomes of the constituency but also ensure equal opportunities for learners of all backgrounds.
