A man who has been posing as a police officer has been arrested by detectives in Kirinyaga East Sub-County.
In the process, police items were recovered from his house at Makongeni in Thika, Kiambu county.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Newton Wachira Waweru was seized following intelligence reports.
The impostor was interrogated before taking detectives to his residence where two police smoke jackets, two jungle green trousers, a green prison lanyard, desert military boots, and a replica firearm, among other items were recovered.

Waweru was taken into custody along with the recovered items, awaiting arraignment in court.
“Detectives have since launched further investigations to determine the extent of the impersonation and whether the suspect has been involved in other criminal activities under the guise of law enforcement” DCI said in a statement.
