Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has asked Gen Z to stay away from the streets during Monday’s planned Saba Saba protests.

Speaking on Sunday, Jalang’o warned that some of the businesses being looted during demonstrations may belong to the same parents the youth are trying to support.

He added that those encouraging protests often stay behind and only show up when it’s too late.

“The person sending you to the streets might not even be there. They may only come to your funeral after you’ve died on the road,” Jalang’o said.

He expressed his concerns that what began as a genuine youth-led movement has now been taken over by politicians for their own interests.

As the country marks Saba Saba, the MP urged young people to pause and reflect, reminding them that the next general election is just around the corner and that they should instead register as voters as the only solution is on ballot box and not on the streets

“This is the time to register as voters. That’s where the real battle will be, not on the streets,” he said.

Jalang’o encouraged the young generation to support President William Ruto’s development efforts instead of protesting.

“Sit down, engage your leaders, and use your voice wisely. That’s how real change happens,” he added.
