Police in Webuye West, Bungoma County, have arrested a suspect and seized 288 bundles of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in Napier grass during an interception along the Bukembe–Malaba highway.
The National Police Service disclosed today that officers were on the lookout for a motorcycle courier who, in a suspicious way, seemed too loaded with Napier grass. The motorcycle was Next shadowed and intercepted at Dina Flyover where a police inspection was conducted of the load carried.
During the inspection, police revealed that the Napier grass had apparently hidden 288 bundles of dry leaves believed to be cannabis sativa.
The suspects was arrested and is currently under police custody pending hearing in the court while the recovered narcotics have been stored as police exhibits.
The National Police Service commended the officers involved for their swift response, saying the operation underscores ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks in the country.
