Linda Mwananchi Faction of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) under the leadership of ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi together with James Orengo, have made a strong statement which supports the proceeding of the public rally planned in Kakamega that is aimed at engaging citizens.
The duo appeared at Kisumu for a press conference on Friday to declare their stand that the other half of party will not be forcibly taken or pressured into supporting anything like the Broad-based government arrangement.
They accuse the state of denying Kenyans the constitutional right of peaceful assembly, citing actions the security personnel have been involved with, violence which disrupted the Kitengela protest last Sunday.
“Only hours to the Kakamega rally, we have symptoms of tutorials, harassment, intimidation, and attempts to frustrate a movement that demands the implementation of the 10-point-agenda the leaders said adding that they’d already secured police permission to proceed with the event.
Orengo and Osotsi also pledged their commitment to the protection of the legacy and constitution of their party as well as to the fulfilling of the mandate for a full implementation of the 10-point agenda that they pointed out that there is less than three weeks to the deadline for its realization.
They pointed out that their push is primarily aimed at protecting the interests of the common citizens and preserving democratic principles.
