Leeds United finally managed to get back to winning ways at home in the Premier League after a 2-1 victory over West Ham, the local rivals who are going through their worst top-flight season in the last 52 years, on Friday night.
The home team’s vital win took Leeds to 13th place on the table, while West Ham are still at the bottom of the league having lost seven out of their last nine league matches.
What’s more, Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice in the first half to lead the Basque side to a 2-1 triumph over Sevilla and thus, out of the Spanish La Liga relegation zone.
In Italy, Serie A leaders AC Milan had to be content with a 2-2 draw at the end of their match against last-placed Pisa after Zachary Athekame hit a fantastic long-range equalizer in injury time to save a point for the Rossoneri.
At the same time, in the German Bundesliga, Werder Bremen celebrated their third victory of the season with a closely fought 1-0 win over Union Berlin at the Weserstadion.
