Two suspects fled on foot after abandoning a running car loaded with 816 bottles of suspected illicit alcohol during a police chase in Trans Nzoia County.
The suspects were being pursued by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kiminini and Chwele after the Toyota Wish, registration number KBV 525J, was intercepted over suspected transportation of second-generation alcohol from Uganda.

According to the DCI, the chase started in Kiminini and ended in the Mali Saba (Emuro) area, where the driver and his passenger jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
The vehicle was left running and later hit a roadside structure before coming to a stop.
Police searched the vehicle and recovered 24 cartons of Jonney’s alcohol, each containing 24 bottles of 200ml.
They also recovered 10 cartons of White Gin, with each carton containing 24 bottles of 200ml.
The haul amounted to 34 cartons containing a total of 816 bottles of the suspected illicit alcohol.
The vehicle was towed to Kiminini Police Station, where the recovered exhibits were secured for further processing.
The DCI said efforts were underway to trace and arrest the driver, passenger and owner of the vehicle as investigations into the suspected illicit alcohol trade continue.
The latest seizure comes amid continued efforts by authorities to disrupt the movement and distribution of illicit alcohol in the country.
The DCI has maintained that such operations are aimed at protecting communities from the harmful effects associated with illicit alcoholic products.
The agency did not disclose whether the seized products had been subjected to laboratory testing to establish their contents or whether any of the suspects had been identified.
