The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced courses available for students who scored a grade of C and below in the 2025 KCSE exams. The courses are available in various Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country.
Out of these courses, 27 of them have a marketability link with employment and self-employment.
The courses available include certificate, diploma, and artisan courses for students who did not qualify for university placement but still want to pursue further learning.
This announcement comes as part of the government’s efforts to improve TVET institutions and encourage the youth to take up various skills in the market.
The various fields covered include business, information and communication technology, engineering, health, agriculture, and hospitality.
In the business and ICT field, the available courses include accountancy, business management, supply chain management, human resource management, sales and marketing, computer science, and information and communication technology.
The technical and engineering fields include electrical/electronic engineering, automotive engineering, building construction, plumbing, welding and fabrication, mechanical engineering technology, and agricultural irrigation and drainage engineering.
The health/applied sciences fields include environmental health, nutrition and dietetics, health records and information technology, medical laboratory technology, applied biology, and applied chemistry.
The fields in agriculture include agriculture, animal health and production, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture.
The fields in the hospitality/creative arts include tourism and hotel management, food and beverage production, and fashion design and clothing technology.
Diploma courses required at least a minimum of C- in the KCSE exam, certificate courses required a minimum grade of D, while artisan courses were available for those with a D-.
The KUCCPS advised students who did not attain university placements to consider enrolling in TVET courses, citing the clear path to employment available in these courses.
