Kenya Power has launched its comprehensive Sustainability Strategy, aimed at integrating sustainable business practices into its operations while addressing key environmental and social challenges.
The strategy is designed to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, ensure responsible resource utilization, and promote inclusivity and corporate ethics.
During the launch, Kenya Power Managing Director and CEO, Joseph Siror, highlighted the importance of the strategy in combating climate change.
He outlined key initiatives such as promoting e-mobility and e-cooking technologies, sourcing clean energy, and developing eco-friendly infrastructure as part of the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
“The Sustainability Strategy will anchor our operations as a responsible corporate citizen, guiding us on short- and long-term activities to tackle challenges like climate change,” said Siror. He emphasized that the company’s efforts would be integral to building a resilient energy ecosystem that balances environmental protection with the energy needs of the communities it serves.
Kenya Power’s Board Chairperson, Joy Brenda Masinde, also underscored the importance of sustainable practices, expressing the company’s commitment to ensuring economic growth is aligned with environmental stewardship and social well-being.
“We aim to achieve economic goals without compromising the well-being of future generations. This is both a strategic imperative and a moral obligation,” Masinde stated.
As the nation’s primary electricity distributor, Kenya Power’s new strategy reflects a long-term commitment to resource preservation.
