Kenya women’s netball national team has moved up from position 30 to 26 globally according to the latest 2024 rankings from World Netball.
Netball federation Secretary General Millicent Busolo hailed the rise saying their recent exploits in Singapore when the ladies won the Mirxes Nations Cup on their debut season, has also improved their continental rankings to a shining and admirable seventh place.
” This is good news to us, we have really worked hard with the girls and the coaching staff to try and achieve that, we now have high hopes of pushing better ranked African teams to the wire so that we can regain back our respect and continental prowess,” said Busolo.
She said the federation is in the process of organizing more local competitions for the purposes of scouting and selection of both the men’s and the ladies’ national teams from the junior levels up to the senior.

Kenya Netball Federation (KNF) had earlier on affirmed that more international competitions will not only better Kenyan players, but will also serve as an exposure to the best ones so that they can advance their playing careers abroad in professional leagues while at the same time improving the country’s rankings.
World Netball 2024 rankings indicate that Kenya has only played 35 times and are weighted 26th after garnering 986 points with a rating of 38.
On the contrary, neighbours Uganda are now ranked second in Africa and sixth globally, just behind continental leaders South Africa who have played 56 games, six more than Uganda who are weighted at 33 with 4,224 points with a rating of 128 while South Africa who are ranked fifth globally and first in the continent are weighted at 35 with 5,546 points with a rating of 158.
