A major partnership between Kenya and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) has been sealed to increase the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and facilitate a country wide digital transformation.
The discussions were held during a courtesy call by a TBI delegation led by ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo.
Key areas of focus included implementation of the National AI Policy, AI capacity building for public servants, government-wide AI rollout, development of AI-ready data infrastructure, and the use of AI to improve service delivery, transparency and efficiency.
AI tools and technologies in the main sectors like agriculture, health finance, and security will also be a big focus of the partnership.
TBI will assist Kenya through provision of technical expertise, forging institutional ties, undertaking AI readiness evaluations in selected ministries, and the facilitation of knowledge sharing sessions with the top AI leaders world wide.
The collaboration is expected to ensure that AI deployment is responsibly done and at the same time, the use of the technology is the catalyst for the realization of an innovation, based, higher, efficiency and better public service sector of the country.
