Kenya and the United States are seeking to deepen their longstanding partnership in tourism and wildlife conservation, with discussions focusing on sustainable development, investment and increased trade.
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano hosted a US delegation led by Chargé d’Affaires Susan Burns to explore strategic opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Miano said the United States remains Kenya’s leading international tourism source market, underscoring the importance of the partnership to the country’s tourism sector.
Kenya’s appeal to international visitors is anchored on its diverse tourism offerings, including world-renowned safari experiences, white-sand beaches along the coast and its reputation as a global athletics powerhouse.
The discussions centred on leveraging Kenya’s natural and cultural assets to expand tourism trade while promoting sustainable wildlife conservation and attracting new investment into the hospitality and eco-tourism sectors.
The two sides also explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration in ways that can support sustainable tourism and create greater economic benefits for local communities.
Miano said the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife is committed to working closely with Burns and the US delegation to further strengthen the partnership.
The collaboration is expected to create stronger links between Kenya and the US in travel, conservation and investment while contributing to economic growth and shared prosperity.
