Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is accused of amassing wealth through corruption and money laundering in his impeachment motion set to be tabled in the National Assembly.
In the motion seen by TUKIO.co.ke, Gachagua is accused of inexplicably amassing a property portfolio estimated at KSh 5.2 billion over the past two years he had been serving as the deputy president
According to the motion, the value of the said property and wealth is incompatible with Gachagua’s known legitimate income of KSh 12 million per year.
The deputy president is accused of acquiring the property using his spouse, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi and their two sons Kevin Rigathi Gachagua and Keith Ikinu Rigathi and other close family members and associates, as proxies.
Some of the questionable properties owned by Gachagua include the Treetops Hotel, located in Nyeri, Outspan Hotel, located in Aberdare Ranges, Olive Gardens Hotel along Argwings Kodhek Roa. Vipingo Beach Resort, Riara One Apartments and Langata View Apartments.
