President William Ruto reiterated Kenya’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, security, and stability within its borders and across the African continent.

Speaking during a courtesy call from Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu at State House Nairobi, President Ruto emphasized the importance of multilateralism as outlined in the Constitutive Act of the African Union and the Charter of the United Nations.

“Kenya believes in the pursuit of peace and security, not only within our borders but also for our neighbors and the rest of Africa,” President Ruto stated.

He highlighted Kenya’s pivotal role as an anchor state for peace and security in the Horn of Africa, particularly in conflict-affected regions such as Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan.

President Ruto noted that Kenya’s efforts in peacebuilding are part of a broader commitment to enhancing regional stability and cooperation.

“We have played a crucial role in addressing the challenges facing our region and will continue to work alongside our partners to ensure a secure and prosperous Eastern Africa,” he said.

The meeting with the IGAD Executive Secretary focused on strengthening collaborations aimed at addressing security concerns and fostering development within the region.

“Our partnership with IGAD is vital for the collective security and development of Eastern Africa,” President Ruto added.
