Kenya is poised to digitize the provision of healthcare with the major focus on digital systems and community health.
Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale commissioned 548 digital gadgets for 131 public health facilities in the Uasin Gishu County on Thursday.
The gadgets, he noted, will enable hospitals and clinics to track services, minimize malpractice, and enhance transparency.
This is all about trust,” noted Duale. “If health records are digital, we reduce errors and Kenyans get the quality care they deserve.”
The CS also sat with Community Health Promoters (CHPs) at a sensitisation meeting, thanking them for their day-to-day work in estates and villages educating families, disease prevention, and linking patients with life-saving care.
He re-emphasized that strengthening CHPs remains central towards ensuring Universal Health Coverage.
Uasin Gishu will also receive the National Equipment Services Programme (NESP), under which counties will have access to high-tech machines such as CT scans, digital X-rays, and mammograms for free.
The system, said Duale, guarantees that hospitals and other facilities are always equipped with modern equipment needed for diagnostics and treatment
“This program will change lives,” he said. “It brings lifesaving technology within reach of Kenyans who once had to travel far or go without.”
The new machines and equipment are all part of wider reforms aimed at building a transparent, effective, and people-oriented health system.
