Kenya has announced the expansion of support for United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to UN peacekeeping missions.

She was speaking during the 2025 UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Conference in Berlin, Germany.

During her address at the plenary pledging session, CS Tuya revealed Kenya’s enhanced contributions to the UN Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (PCRS).

The contributions include a heavy transport company, an armed helicopter unit, and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) units featuring Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS).

Additional pledges include the deployment of a Mobile Training Team to support UN Mine Action Service operations from September 2025, as well as specialized training in Counter-IED and Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM).

Kenya will also host and provide trainers for these crucial areas under the Triangular Partnership Programme.

CS Tuya called for a comprehensive review of UN peace operations to address evolving threats such as terrorism, organized crime, and hybrid warfare.

CS Tuya was accompanied by Kenya’s Ambassador to Germany Stella Mokaya Orina and Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Chief of Operations Edward Rugendo.
