Kenya has received recognition from the United States for its continued leadership in promoting peace and stability across the region.
Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Saturday hosted U.S. Senior Advisor for Africa Affairs, Dr. Massad Boulos, who led a high-level delegation on a courtesy visit to the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary in Nairobi.
Mudavadi reaffirmed Kenya’s steadfast commitment to supporting peace processes across Africa, noting that sustainable solutions are critical to unlocking the region’s development potential.“We appreciate Dr. Boulos’ recognition of Kenya’s proactive role in fostering peace and economic recovery in the region. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with the U.S. in achieving the region’s economic stability,” Mudavadi said.
He emphasized that Kenya seeks win-win solutions to conflicts affecting the region, and stressed the importance of collective action to address the security and humanitarian challenges draining critical resources.“Kenya has every interest in continuing to consolidate the partnership with the U.S., especially in humanitarian interventions geared toward lasting peace,” he added.
Highlighting Kenya’s track record in peacekeeping, Mudavadi said the country has participated in 43 peace missions globally since independence, including the recent Nairobi peace talks.
Dr. Boulos acknowledged Kenya’s lead role in mediation, saying the U.S. sees the country as a key partner in advancing durable peace.“The U.S. understands that Kenya can still play a major role in these peace initiatives. We are pursuing the adoption of a unified and effective peace framework,” Boulos said.
He added that the Trump administration supports peace efforts in Africa and beyond, urging for quick and orderly implementation to benefit affected citizens.
