Kenya and India are seeking to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector following talks between Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi and India’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Adarsh Swaika.
The discussions, attended by Petroleum Principal Secretary Mohamed Liban Harsama, focused on opportunities for strategic partnerships in oil exploration and drilling, as well as investments in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
The proposed collaboration is expected to support Kenya’s energy security objectives while contributing to sustainable economic growth.

“The meeting explored opportunities for deepening strategic partnerships in oil exploration and drilling . They also delebarated on LPG investment aimed at enhancing Kenya’s energy security and supporting sustainable economic growth,” he said in a statement.

During the meeting, the Indian envoy reaffirmed the longstanding ties between Kenya and India, noting the potential for expanded cooperation through technology transfer, increased investment and knowledge sharing in the energy sector.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen economic relations and unlock new opportunities for mutual development.
