The Ministry of Health has reported two new Mpox cases in Kericho and Taita Taveta counties, bringing the total confirmed cases to 33 across 12 counties, with Nakuru (10) and Mombasa (8) leading in infections.

Since the outbreak began, 225 contacts have been identified, nine of whom tested positive.

Over 2.9 million travelers have been screened, and 379 samples tested, with 33 confirmed positive.

Heightened Measures in SchoolsWith schools reopening, children remain at higher risk due to weaker immune systems.

The Ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is enhancing hygiene practices, training staff to recognize symptoms, and promoting safe practices such as proper ventilation and regulated gatherings.

Public Health Guidelines

Hygiene: Frequent handwashing and regular disinfection.

Symptom Monitoring: Identifying and isolating suspected cases.

Safe Practices: Well-ventilated classrooms and controlled large gatherings.
