President William Ruto has said no amount of political propaganda will deter him from engaging with his political base in the populous Mount Kenya region.

Speaking at the Africa Independent Pentecostal Church of africa’s annual ceremony, he promised continued investment and attention to regional needs. He highlighted how past development projects show consistent results.

He appeared to dismiss assertions by his former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that he was the one who had influenced his support in the region.

The President sought to assure the region that they were still a key cog of his administration even as he rallied them to support his initiative to unite the country.

With the backing of Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and a section of legislators from the county, Ruto said his track record on his pre-election pledges in Mount Kenya would guarantee him re-election.

The President called for an all society approach in the war against illicit brews and drug abuse rallying parents and religious institutions to be more proactive.

“We will be working and collaborating closely with the Church and other religious groups, among others, in the fight against this scourge.”
