A special charity concert will be headlined by popular reggae artist Alborosie and lovers’ rock singer Don Campbell at Nairobi’s KICC Tsavo Ballroom on February 15, 2025.

Kenyan artists Nazizi, Wyre, and Gravitti Band will also perform.

The concert is focused on supporting and raising awareness for Kenya’s deaf community. The event is organized by Dutch social enterprise The Long Trail, the Deaf Centre Kwale, Mtaani.com, and King Lion Sounds. It aims to combine entertainment with a meaningful cause.

DJ Heartical emphasized the event’s appeal: “The artists performing here have connected with fans worldwide because their music speaks to everyone, no matter where they’re from.”

Prince Otach, a UK-based Kenyan promoter, explained the inclusive nature of the concert: “This concert is about creating awareness and breaking barriers for Kenya’s deaf community. Deaf staff will serve food and drinks using sign language, giving everyone a chance to experience something truly special.”

The event will also educate attendees. “In Kenya, especially in rural areas, deafness is often misunderstood. People see it as a mental disability, a curse, or even something contagious,” Prince Otach explained. “This event aims to change those harmful perceptions and show how capable the deaf community truly is.”

Deaf staff will serve food and drinks at the concert. Attendees will learn basic sign language while ordering. Workshops will be held to teach sign language. Booths from organizations promoting disability awareness, climate action, and food security will be set up on-site.

Proceeds from the event will support programs for deaf communities in Kwale County and Nairobi. The funds will help create opportunities and raise awareness.

Alborosie, who visited the Deaf Centre in Kwale in late 2024, is excited to perform for the cause. “I’m proud to support this important mission,” he said.
