Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has held talks with senior Canadian officials aimed at strengthening ties between Kenya and Canada, with a focus on expanding trade, labour mobility and skills development opportunities.

The meeting held on Saturday, March 14, brought together Canada’s Secretary of State Randeep Sarai and a delegation led by the Canadian High Commissioner to Kenya, Joshua Tabah.

According to Mudavadi, the discussions explored practical steps to deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries, particularly under the emerging Kenya–Canada Labour Mobility Framework.

The proposed framework is expected to facilitate greater labour mobility, technical collaboration and skills exchange, building on recent high-level engagements between Nairobi and Ottawa.

Mudavadi noted that Canada remains a key partner for Kenya across several sectors, including trade, aviation, energy, agriculture and labour.

He also acknowledged Canada’s global leadership in industries such as mining, oil and gas, aviation, cybersecurity and advanced technologies, noting that Kenya is keen to expand cooperation in these areas.

The Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary added that Kenya continues to offer a competitive and open investment environment for Canadian businesses as global trade patterns evolve.

Strengthening the partnership, he said, will help unlock new economic opportunities and deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
