President William Ruto emphasized Kenya’s commitment to deepening its collaborative efforts with the United States to advance governance and strengthen security in the country.

In a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, President Ruto affirmed that the partnership is a key priority for both nations, with a shared focus on the fight against corruption and the provision of resources to boost the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of Kenya’s security institutions.

The conversation, held earlier this evening, highlighted the strides Kenya and the U.S. have made in supporting each other’s goals to enhance governance frameworks.

President Ruto noted that these efforts include targeted capacity-building initiatives aimed at equipping Kenyan security agencies with advanced skills and resources to better fulfill their mandates in line with international standards.

“We are continuously working together to enhance our collaboration to ensure improved governance.

This includes the fight against corruption and provision of capacity-building to make our security institutions more efficient, effective, and accountable,” said President Ruto in a statement following the call.

President Ruto’s commitment to addressing corruption and fortifying Kenya’s institutions comes amid increased calls for transparency and accountability in governance.

The collaboration with the U.S. signals a robust approach, particularly in addressing systemic issues within Kenya’s security agencies and judicial systems.

Secretary Blinken echoed the U.S.’s support for these initiatives, underscoring Washington’s interest in partnering with Nairobi to build a resilient governance structure.

He praised Kenya’s dedication to tackling corruption, a critical element of sustainable development, and highlighted the importance of bilateral efforts to promote regional stability.

The leaders agreed to explore further steps that could accelerate these goals and affirmed that enhanced governance and strengthened security would contribute significantly to the prosperity and safety of the Kenyan people.
