Harambee Stars captain Aboud Omar has regretted the team’s exit from the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

The national team was knocked out by Madagascar in a dramatic match on Friday, August 22, that ended in a 4-3 penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw during normal and extra time.

Taking to Facebook, Omar issued an apology to the fans following the heartbreaking loss and subsequent exit from CHAN.

He thanked Kenyans for their support during the games, terming it their greatest strength.

"Dear Kenyans, Madagascar’s loss weighs heavily on us. We know we have let Kenyans down and on behalf of the team, I sincerely apologize. To all our fans, thank you for your massive support and unity—you have been our greatest strength. Though we fell short today, we promise to rise again and fight harder for our country and for you," said Omar.
