The Kenya Army Corps of Engineers, under the leadership of Commanding Officer 14 Engineers Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Wainaina, conducted a rehabilitation project at Thika High School for the Visually Impaired in Thika, Kiambu County.
They levelled the school’s playground and restored a long-defunct borehole.
Julia Keitany, the Deputy Principal, expressed deep gratitude to the Kenya Defence Forces for their efforts.
She noted that the uneven playground had been a significant barrier to the students’ physical activities, but with the recent levelling, the space will now be safer and more inclusive, encouraging greater participation and promoting overall well-being.
She revealed that the school’s borehole had been out of service for nearly a decade leading to high water bills.
Lieutenant Colonel Wainaina expressed pride in the opportunity to give back to the community, reaffirming KDF’s commitment to assisting where possible.
