KCB FC will now turn their focus to their upcoming fixture against Kariobangi Sharks on September 30 at the Police Sacco Stadium, following a narrow 1-0 loss to Mathare United in a tightly contested FKF Premier League clash at Kasarani Annex.

The game started on a cautious note, with both teams struggling to carve out clear opportunities in the early stages.

KCB came closest to opening the scoring in the 24th minute when Jack Okello latched onto a loose ball just outside the box, only to see his effort drift narrowly wide.

Mathare United took the lead just before halftime, with captain Elli Asieche curling a superb free kick into the net in the 43rd minute, breaking the deadlock and handing the Slum Boys a crucial advantage.

The second half kicked off under heavy rain, complicating conditions on the pitch. KCB nearly found an equalizer through a powerful effort that forced Mathare keeper Kevin Ouru into a stunning one-handed save, tipping the ball onto the woodwork to keep the hosts ahead.

KCB continued to push for a leveller, with substitute Okoth coming close after glancing a header wide from an Asieche corner.

sA brief stoppage followed a collision in the box, but Mathare weathered the late pressure to secure all three points.

“It was a tough match in difficult conditions, but we have to move on quickly. Our focus now is on Sharks, and we must prepare well to bounce back,” said KCB head coach Robert Matano.
