The Kasemeni Police Post in Kinango Sub-County, Kwale County, has received a major facelift and upgrade as part of efforts to strengthen security around the Mwache Multipurpose Dam and support surrounding communities.
The upgrade is being undertaken under the community-support framework of the Mwache Multipurpose Dam Project, with the improved facilities expected to enhance the capacity of security officers serving residents in the area.
The works include the construction of a new administration block and modern staff accommodation comprising 14 bedsitters and two one-bedroom units.
Speaking about progress, interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo noted that the infrastructure is expected to provide better working and living conditions for police officers deployed to the area, while enabling the police post to respond more effectively to security concerns within the surrounding communities.
The upgraded Kasemeni Police Post is also expected to play a key role in strengthening community policing and safeguarding the Mwache Multipurpose Dam and its associated infrastructure.
The dam is a major infrastructure project in the Coast region, and enhanced security around the facility is considered critical to protecting the investment while ensuring the safety of communities living in its vicinity.
The upgrade also aligns with the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration’s broader efforts to improve security infrastructure and service delivery across the country.
With the new facilities in place, residents of Kasemeni and neighbouring areas are expected to benefit from improved access to security services, while police officers will have better facilities from which to carry out their duties.
