Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to refining its foreign policy through the Sessional Paper No. 1 of 2025. Speaking at a high-level retreat, Mudavadi emphasized the need for Executive and Legislative collaboration in shaping the country’s diplomatic strategy.
The session focused on reviewing the proposals outlined in the Sessional Paper, which builds upon the Kenya Foreign Policy 2024, launched in December last year. Mudavadi noted that the document serves as a strategic blueprint for Parliament’s scrutiny, ensuring that policies are well-defined before implementation.

He emphasized its theme, “Sera ya Kenya ya Uhusiano wa Nje na Nchini Hadi Mashinani”, which highlights a shift toward grassroots involvement in foreign policy. The “Foreign and Diaspora Policy Mashinani” initiative aims to align diplomatic decisions with national interests and ensure citizens are engaged at all levels.
The policy also integrates Kenya’s growing diaspora concerns, reinforcing commitments made under the Kenya Diaspora Policy 2024. Principal Secretaries for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs are expected to provide further details on these aspects in subsequent discussions.
