Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of a tragic accident along the Mai Mahiu-Longonot road, which claimed the lives of seven members of a single family on Saturday last week.

The devastating incident has sparked renewed concerns over road safety in the region.While visiting the bereaved family, National Assembly Minority Whip Sylvanus Osoro assured them that the government would cover all funeral expenses to ease their financial burden during this difficult time.”We deeply mourn with the family during this tragic moment.

The government will take responsibility for all burial costs to support them as they grieve,” Osoro stated.The accident has drawn attention to the state of road infrastructure along the Mai Mahiu-Longonot stretch, a route known for frequent road crashes.

Limuru Member of Parliament John Kiragu acknowledged the need for immediate improvements in road safety and revealed that plans are in progress to expand major highways.”There are ongoing efforts to expand the Rironi-Mau Summit road and the Northern Corridor into a dual carriageway.

This initiative aims to reduce road accidents by decongesting the roads and ensuring safer driving conditions,” Kiragu stated.The move comes as road safety advocates and legislators continue to call for improved traffic laws, better road designs, and strict enforcement of regulations to reduce the number of fatalities on Kenyan Authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to establish the exact cause of the crash.
