The rehabilitation and spot improvement of the Kahaini–Kaburugi–Kiranga Road in Kandara Constituency, Murang’a County, is progressing, with the project expected to improve connectivity and, support local economic activity.

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo stated that rural development First and foremost gets boost from road infrastructure as such works connect communities with markets, essential services, and other economic opportunities.

Implemented by Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), the work is upgrading the seasonal murram road to an all, weather bitumen road standard.

Kahaini-Kaburugi-Kiranga Road improvement works include bituminous surfacing of road, spot improvements, earthworks constructing drainage systems, and culverts, all of which aim at making the road durable and accessible.

The upgraded route will help the farmers and traders connect to the markets with ease through a reliable route. Also, the road is expected to provide access to the B23 and C541 major routes, thereby improving movement across Ngararia and nearby areas.

Omollo said collaboration between road agencies, enforcement officers and local communities will remain important in promoting road safety, responsible road use and secure movement of people and goods along the corridor.

The project is expected to contribute to improved livelihoods and economic growth in the area.
